All of Tinker's Construct tools can be modified to allow for certain upgrades. They are listed below (and in the Materials and You book you receive in-game). Applying any of the below modifiers takes up one modifier slot, for which most tools have a default of three maximum.

Levels | - Each additional blaze powder adds either .06 or .07 to the additional fire damage, which starts at .07 damage and has a maximum of 1.67 fire damage.
- Fire duration starts from one second at the lowest level and at the highest level lasts 4 seconds. Each additional second requires 8 blaze powder to be added.
- The maximum level is twenty-five blaze powder.

Sharpness

Levels | - Each reinforcement adds a 10% chance to not use durability.

- L = Level = int((x/50)+1); b is the original mining speed, and x is the amount of redstone used.
- Haste - 1 to 50 Redstone Cost; 0.08-speed increase per redstone
- Haster - 51 to 100 Redstone Cost; 0.1-speed increase per redstone
- Hastest - 101 to 150 Redstone Cost; 0.12-speed increase per redstone
- Hastester - 151 to 200 Redstone Cost; 0.14-speed increase per redstone
- Hastestest - 201 to 250 Redstone Cost; 0.16-speed increase per redstone
- Extra Haste: For every new Haste modification, 50 more redstone can be added. Each redstone adds a speed increase following the previous pattern.
